Leafed is made and run by Prateek Gupta, in Bengaluru, India. Using the app means accepting what is on this page. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.
Leafed estimates how much light a plant gets where it stands, from the direction and size of a window, the glass, the room, what is opposite, and a year of recorded weather. It then compares that to what the species is thought to need.
These are estimates, and the app says so about each one. Every plant carries where its figures came from: most are a horticultural convention for a class of plant rather than a measurement of that species, and the app shows which. A verdict is our best reading of your situation, not a promise about your plant.
Plants die for reasons no app can see — root rot under the soil, a pest that arrived last week, a cold draught, a bad potting mix. Leafed is not a guarantee that a plant will live, and following its advice is your decision.
The photo check describes what a model can see in a photograph. It is not a diagnosis by a person, it can be wrong, and it should not be the only thing you rely on for a plant that matters to you.
Nothing in the app is advice about whether a plant is safe to eat, or safe for a child or an animal. Where we show toxicity, it comes from veterinary references, it covers pets rather than people, and "not listed" means nobody has checked — never that it is safe. If an animal or a person has eaten a plant, ring a vet or a doctor, not an app.
Twenty-eight days free, on one plant. No card, and nothing is charged. It is long enough to watch the advice be right or wrong before paying for it.
When it ends, the daily advice, reminders, the year ahead and the camera checks pause until you choose a plan. Your plants, your places and their history stay — nothing is deleted for not paying, and it all comes back if you subscribe later.
Plans differ only in how many plants they cover; every plan includes everything the app does. Prices are shown in the app, in your own currency, before you buy.
Subscriptions are sold through Apple, and Apple handles the payment — we never see your card.
If a price changes, Apple will tell you before it takes effect and ask you to agree.
Your photographs and the plants you enter remain yours. You give us permission to store them and process them so the app can work — nothing more. We do not use your photographs to train models and we do not sell them. Delete your account and they go with it.
The plant pictures in the app come from openly licensed sources, and every one is credited in Profile → Photograph credits with its photographer, its licence and a link to the original. They belong to the people who took them, not to us.
Leafed depends on services it does not own — weather data, Apple's store, a hosting provider. It will sometimes be unavailable, and the weather can be wrong. The app is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will always work or always be right.
Where the law allows a limit, our liability to you is capped at what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, because it cannot.
You can delete your account at any time in Profile, and everything goes immediately. We may close an account that is breaking these terms, and will say why unless the law prevents it.
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will tell you rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts of Bengaluru have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not take away rights your own country gives you.
